FAQs

  • Who can audition for CCW?

    All singers in grades 2-12 are encouraged to audition. Singers in grades K-1 are encouraged to sign up for our Prep I Class.

  • Is chorus only for girls?

    No! We welcome singers of all gender identities.

  • What happens during the audition?

    • Each audition will last roughly 30 minutes and will be conducted in small groups of no more than six singers at a time.
    • The auditionee will be asked to sing a simple song like "Happy Birthday" and follow pitch-matching and rhythm exercises.
    • Students may be asked to complete a short musicianship (music theory) assessment following their audition.
  • Do you need to bring a prepared song?

    No, you do not need to prepare an audition piece, and no previous experience is needed.

  • When will I be notified about the results of my audition?

    We typically send audition results within one week of the audition, and usually within a few days.

  • What about the cost?

    There is no cost to audition. You only have to pay tuition if you decide to register. We offer extended payment plans, as well as scholarships to help cover tuition, uniforms, and transportation. If you are accepted into CCW and want to join, we will do everything we can to make sure you can participate fully.

  • Are you a religious or political organization?

    No, CCW is nondenominational and nonpartisan.

  • What kind of music does CCW sing?

    We celebrate our community's diversity by teaching a curriculum that includes songs in different languages, from different time periods, representing different faiths, and written in a variety of styles. From sacred to secular, masterworks to new commissions, our students are exposed to a wide range of choral repertoire.

  • What are you doing about Covid-19?
