Charlie Sperduto

Charlie Sperduto is the Senior Director of Civic Engagement & Operations for Washington Nationals Philanthropies and its signature program, Nats Academy. Charlie has been an integral part of the Academy since its beginning in 2013 and manages all community partner relationships for Nationals Philanthropies, food access programming and grant making, plus operations for the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. Charlie is an expert in implementing programs catered to increasing Social Emotional Learning capacities in youth. He also created and has grown YBA PLAY, the Academy’s grassroots baseball experience, increasing enrollment from 40 children exclusively at the Academy facility to over 1,300 in four sites across the city in just a few years. He has a 12 years of experience

managing Academy programs and program budgets. Focused on ensuring the Academy is a pillar of the community, Charlie has built relationships with neighborhood school leaders, local advocacy groups, and community stakeholders across Charlie earned a BA in International Relations from Elon University—where he was a member of the varsity baseball team—and a Masters in Sports Management from Georgetown University. Charlie understands the impact of playing on a team, or singing in a chorus, can have in the development of a child.
