Bel Canto Chorus goes on domestic trips to cities along the East Coast each year. For several years Bel Canto has taken part in the 3 Trebles Festival with Princeton Girlchoir and Boston Children’s Chorus, rotating the role of festival host. The Bel Canto trip takes place in early spring over a weekend.
In a non-international tour year, Concert Chorus and Young Men’s Ensemble may have a short domestic tour over the summer or a collaboration with another regional youth chorus.
Concert Chorus, Young Men’s Ensemble, 2nd-year bel canto chorus
As an integral part of their CCW experience, international tours provide singers in the Concert Chorus and Young Men’s Ensemble with cross-cultural experiences that develop personal growth, build bonds, and foster global citizenship. These tours, conducted every other summer, allow our students to sing at prestigious venues around the world and collaborate with local children’s choruses while exploring foreign cultures and peoples first-hand. Facilitated by a tour operator who specializes in creating unforgettable cultural and performance experiences in foreign territories, CCW prepares a special repertoire that combines the music traditions of America and the destination country.
CCW has toured to Great Britain, Italy, France, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, China and France. In Italy, our singers performed at a Gala Festival Concert in Florence and in a Mass at St. Peter’s in Rome during the 1999 tour. In July 2002, the Chorus participated in the European Children’s Chorus Festival in Vienna, Salzburg and Prague, performing in such venues as St. Stephen’s in Vienna, University Church in Salzburg, and Smetana Hall in Prague. For its first International self-produced tour, CCW had the opportunities to sing at St Mark’s Basilica in Venice and St Peter’s Basilica in Rome among other grand venues in Italy. CCW participated in the Melodia! Children’s Music Festival during its 2006 tour in Brazil and Argentina, and traveled to South Africa in 2010 to participated in the Ilhombe South African Choral Festival. The Chorus performed in Shanghai, Xi’an, Tianjin, Hangzhou, and Beijing during their tour to China in 2013. In the summer of 2015 the Chorus sang in beautiful venues such as Chartres Cathedral and Cathedral Notre-Dame in France.
