  • Grades K-1 meet one day a week for 1 hour.

  • Grades 8-12 meet twice a week for a total of 3 hours.

  • Changed voices meet once a week for 2 hours.

FINANCIAL AID

The Children's Chorus of Washington is deeply committed to being financially accessible, so that all children have the opportunity for outstanding music education, performance opportunities, and empowerment. Financial aid is means-tested and we distribute resources according to family income and size of household, using the Federal Financial Assistance Calculator.

Upon enrolling in the program, families will have the opportunity to submit a Financial Aid Application, which is required to quality for Financial Aid and is reviewing on a rolling basis.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are often asked the following questions about joining CCW, so we have included the answers here. If there is anything we haven’t covered, please reach out to our team by emailing Michelle Ravitsky, who will be happy to help!

  • Yes, auditioning for the Children’s Chorus of Washington is free!

    When scheduling your audition, you will be asked to enter a credit/debit card to authorize a $25 no-show fee. This fee is only charged if your child does not attend the audition and we do not receive advance notice.

    If your child attends as scheduled, or if you cancel or reschedule by 6:00pm the day before the audition using the link in your confirmation email, no fee will be charged.

Each season, financial aid is distrubuted on a needs-basis, according to family income and size of household, using the Federal Financial Assistance Calculator. 

  • Our non-auditioned ensembles are grouped by grade level, making it easy for singers to get started in a setting that fits their age. Our auditioned ensembles are placed based on both grade level and audition results, ensuring each singer is matched with a group that supports their current skill level.

    Each ensemble is thoughtfully designed to align with a chorister’s age and musical experience, providing the right balance of challenge and support to help them grow and succeed at CCW.

  • Our ensembles sing music from a range of cultures, styles and eras, including secular and sacred works. Part of the joy of CCW is that you will sing some songs that are familiar to you, and a lot from styles, genres and cultures that you may not be familiar with.

  • No. Although we rehearse in places of worship, CCW is secular and non-partisan, and everyone is welcome. Our ensembles, on occasion, sing music from different faith traditions.
