OUR INITIATIVES
DON COTTON LEGACY FUND
The Don Cotton Legacy Fund honors Don Cotton’s extraordinary 30 years of service to the Children’s Chorus of Washington and his lasting impact on generations of singers. Created in recognition of his leadership and the founding of the Young Men’s Ensemble, the fund will support scholarships for boys and young men in CCW programs and help sustain the Young Men’s Ensemble. Additionally, we have launched a Kudoboard which allows you to personally show your appreciation for Don.

JOAN GREGORYK SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Joan Gregoryk Scholarship Fund is a current-use account that creates flexible awards, including multi-year scholarships to support long-term engagement for students. Scholarships granted through the Fund will be based on need, and can cover expenses such as tuition, uniforms, transportation, or any other costs that would otherwise inhibit participation in CCW’s ensembles.
The first scholarships from the Joan Gregoryk Scholarship Fund were awarded in 2021.

DCPS ALL CITY CHORUS
The Chorus, formerly known as the DC Honors Chorus, is an elementary-level choir composed of unchanged voices. Music teachers from elementary schools across the District are invited to nominate students who demonstrate a passion for singing. Selected students prepare with their teachers at school before coming together for a full day of collaborative rehearsal. The experience culminates in a live performance for families and community members, celebrating the joy of music and the power of collective voice.

EXPAND OUR REACH
With a vision to overcome geographic access barriers, in April 2024 we launched the Expand Our Reach initiative, planning for citywide programming across multiple campuses, beginning with Southwest DC in the 2024-25 season. Core to our organization is the belief that access to high quality singing opportunities should be accessible to any young person who wants them, irrespective of geography or socio-economic position.
