Sara Curtin, ‘99

SARA CURTIN is thrilled to join CCW to celebrate 30 years of music and influence. Born and raised in Washington, DC, Sara was a founding member of CCW and credits the chorus as a formative experience which laid the groundwork for a life in music.

The Washington Post calls Curtin’s voice “angelic”, and she is a current recipient of the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities Artist Fellowship grant (2014 - 2026). Sara has performed her original music at esteemed venues including The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, the 9:30 Club, The Black Cat, and The Birchmere, and The Hamilton. Her folk duo The Sweater Set (2021 Wammie Award for Best Folk Group) has toured the US, UK, and Ireland, opened for Aoife O’Donovan and Dar Williams, and were Strathmore Artists-in-Residence.

Micah Hendler, ‘03

Micah Hendler is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Jerusalem Youth Chorus, an Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue project amplifying youth voices from Jerusalem to the global stages of TED and America's Got Talent. A CCW alumnus, Micah studied Music and International Studies at Yale, where he sang with the Whiffenpoofs. Named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Music, he now lives in Washington, DC, where he leads regular Community Sings, carrying the torch of Dr. Ysaye Barnwell. His book Impossible Harmony is forthcoming from HarperCollins in 2027.

Tamika Smith

Tamika Smith is an award-winning journalist and media trailblazer whose voice and leadership continue to shape the national conversation. She made history as the first African American woman to host All Things Considered on WAMU 88.5 in Washington, D.C.

With a career spanning public radio, national syndication, and innovative digital platforms, Tamika has served as a host at WAMU and as a producer for the nationally acclaimed Russ Parr Morning Show. She is also the co-creator of the award-winning interactive trivia podcast Question of the Day with Murray and Tamika, available on Amazon Alexa.

Throughout her career, Tamika has brought depth, authenticity, and curiosity to her work as a host, producer, and reporter, contributing to respected programs including Tell Me More with Michel Martin and Keepin’ It Real with Al Sharpton. Her work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling, community, and excellence in journalism.

Catherine Wethington, ‘02

Catherine Wethington, coloratura soprano, has won international opera awards at the 14th City of Brescia Tribute to Maria Callas International Competition, the Marie Kraja Opera Competition, and the Concorso Lirico Internazionale Gigli-Franci. She recently sang at Carnegie Hall with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and at the Strathmore Music Center with the Baltimore Symphony. Ms. Wethington has also appeared in numerous opera productions in Europe and North America, her favorite role is Gilda from Verdi's Rigoletto. She holds music degrees from the University of Michigan and The Catholic University of America.

Nolan Williams Jr.

Nolan Williams, Jr. is the CEO of NEWorks Productions, a socially impactful arts and entertainment company founded in 2003. An award-winning multi-hyphenate creative, his work as a producer, filmmaker, playwright, composer-lyricist, musicologist and cultural curator explores social justice, civic engagement, and cultural identity. His acclaimed projects include the bestselling African American Heritage Hymnal, the documentary Becoming Douglass Commonwealth and the musical Grace. Williams’s music has been performed by major orchestras in the US and UK and featured at national events.
